Technical week 2 & 3...
What we did and how...
This week in our technical class we looked at how we could shoot our beauty shots with the use of the beauty dish, black boards to diffuse light and shooting up close on eyes and lips. I found it very interesting testing this out and how precise you have to be with makeup because in the photo it will show everything in detail and you can't rely on photo shop to hide your mistakes.
We set our camera to 1/160 on manual with shutter speed of 100.
We took turns to get up and take some test shots of the lips, we applied a lip gloss to make the photo pop and really look beautiful.

It was the first time setting up in this way which is shown below on my images taken, with the large reflector board either side, the beauty dish, the black boards and two more reflector boards behind them, It was very full on in this lesson, but I learnt a lot by getting stuck in and not being afraid to make mistakes because it's how you learn and progress. It was daunting knowing where everything went but we worked well as a team to structure the shoot.
I enjoyed seeing what worked with what lighting and using different equipment, it gave me ideas whether to take on a risk and try a close up shot, therefore I will research into my brand image and editorial and see if these kind of photos fit with my theme. However, I was a new experience and enjoyed seeing what we could do in the future.
A few more images of my week looking at using close up images of either the eyes or the lips.
