It attracts the audience with the extravagant, eccentric use of colour and props, with the unusual use of large objects such as the large apple, large fish bowl, large pencil, all of this with the use of green tones and blues to really make the advert pop and stand out.
The theme of the advert is based in a school class, you can see where shes writing, where there is writing on the chalk board behind her, very american style, also with bold uses of green in her hair, her clothes, everywhere on set, her style is 1960's inspired due to her rolled fringe which is pinned with her green bow at the side; she looks very glamorous, with the classic winged eye liner and pink lips, timeless and beautiful look. This will attract the audience also, after they have looked past the huge props which is very bizarre which makes people want to stand and stare and take in the fun advert.
It is not all about the makeup brand, it shows you the lifestyle of working and studying whilst looking glamorous at the same time, I believe it sells a lifestyle as well as the makeup. You don't see the makeup product they are trying to sell to you, they are just promoting their brand name. Showing a young woman with flawless skin, well dressed in a quirky 1960's style with great use of bold green colours that will automatically draw your attention to.
Benefit as a company are very unique, they have vintage looking imagery on their makeup products and you would see this and think it would be an advert for benefit. It shows vintage and glam which screams benefit products.
I was really drawn to this advert as soon as I researched for an advert, I kept going back to it and I just love the whole use of colours, textures and sex appeal. I am a fan of the vintage makeup and hair along with the fashion side of it, that era is my favourite and I believe this is why I was so drawn to the effortless, timeless makeup and the whole package of this advert.
My eyes followed from being instantly drawn to the apple to the pencil to the young lady with her fun sense of style then to the brand name 'Benefit' I did take a few moments to think what was going on, then I realised it was a lady in a classroom with big equipment and products around her, I found it intriguing to look at, It made me smile and think how crazy yet the effect it had on my mood was good and it has drawn me to go see the products.
I like something quirky and it tells a story also in this advert. It shows a glamorous young lady studying, with glam and confidence which is what every girl desires, I feel it appeals to teens through to women in there early 30's, people who want to look like this from going to work through to studying, wanting to look nice whilst working hard, the best of both worlds.
